Katori privacy policy

For wellmosphere.com/katori/privacy. Last updated: 9 October 2026.

Katori is made by Wellmosphere. This page says plainly what happens to your information.

The short version

  • Your meal log, body details, targets, weight and saved foods stay on your phone.
  • There’s no account, no ads, no tracking across apps, and we never sell anything.
  • Photos, and words the app can’t match on your phone, are sent once to identify the food. They’re not kept.

What stays on your phone

Everything you enter lives only on your device:

  • age, sex, height, weight, activity, diet and goal;
  • your daily targets;
  • meals, weigh-ins, saved dishes and your own foods;
  • reminder times.

We can’t see this information. Deleting the app, or using Settings › Privacy and your data › Delete everything, removes it.

What leaves your phone, and why

Food identification. When you log by photo, or type something the app can’t match on the phone:

  • the photo (shrunk to 768 pixels, with location and camera details removed), any note, and the text go to our server;
  • the server passes them to Anthropic’s Claude to name the dishes and estimate portions;
  • the answer comes back to you to check;
  • we don’t store photos or text, and we don’t log them. Anthropic processes them under its commercial terms and doesn’t use them to train its models.

Keeping the service fair. Each install has a random ID, made on your phone and not linked to your name, email or device identifiers. It’s used to count free photos. On iPhone, Apple’s App Attest confirms requests come from the real Katori app, and Apple’s DeviceCheck lets us mark a phone that has used its free photos, so reinstalling the app doesn’t reset them. DeviceCheck stores two yes-or-no values with Apple for this app and phone; it doesn’t identify you, and we can’t see any other device information. Our server keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for up to two days, to stop abuse. It also keeps a fingerprint of each photo (not the photo itself) for a day, so sending the same photo again with a note isn’t counted twice. We log only technical facts per request: which feature, how long it took, and the cost. We never log your food, photos or IP address.

Subscriptions. If you subscribe to Katori Pro, Apple (or Google) handles payment. RevenueCat tells the app whether Pro is active, using an anonymous ID. Our server checks that same anonymous ID with RevenueCat so Pro’s photo limits apply, and remembers which app installs it was used from (no more than three) so it can’t be borrowed. We never see your card or store account details.

Reminders are scheduled on your phone by your phone. Nothing is sent.

Your choices

  • Export: Katori Pro can export your log as a spreadsheet at any time.
  • Delete: Settings › Privacy and your data › Delete everything clears your data from the phone. Nothing about your log is held anywhere else.
  • Photos: typing always works, and you never have to use the camera.

Children

Katori is for adults aged 18 and over.
